Libya Challenging ICC Order to Hand Over Seif Gaddafi

The Libyan government argued Tuesday at a two-day hearing in the Hague, that it should not have to hand over Seif al-Islam Gaddafi to the International Criminal Court in The Hague because the court in the Netherlands, does not have jurisdiction in the case.

Seif, currently held in the Libyan city of Zintan, was facing an arrest warrant from the ICC for alleged crimes against humanity at the time of his capture in November last year. The ICC still wants to prosecute him and wants Libya to hand him over.

The ICC has demanded that Libya hand Seif over, but Libya is appealing the decision, saying that as his crimes were committed in Libya, against the libyan people, and he is a Libyan citizen, he should be tried at home.
